The data in the FIFO will be unloaded to the labeler in the same order that the boxes passed through the sizing station. This is the importance of using a “First-In-First-Out” or FIFO.
When the box reaches the labeler, a pair of sensors just upstream of the labeler indicates the presence of the next box.
If either sensor is tripped, we consider a box to be present. The sensors are positioned at a height such that either a small or a large box will be detected.
We want to trigger the inkjet printer to spray the identifying label onto the outside of the box one and a half seconds after the box activates the sensor. This is the time it takes on average for the box to travel into the line-of-sight of the printer.
