- Start the RSLogix 500 program and open the BALLMILL program developed in the previous course: https://bit.ly/3pOcxaz (Right click and Save as)
Open the Channel Configuration window to see the MicroLogix 1100 communication channels.
Channel 0 is configured as a serial channel using the Rockwell DF1 protocol. We can change the protocol used for this channel to several other serial communication protocols.
Channel 1 is configured to be an Ethernet channel. Note that the protocol for this channel cannot be changed.
- Start RSLinx Classic and then RSLogix Emulate 500. Both programs must be running in order to download the PLC program.
In RSLinx Classic, a serial RS-485 driver is configured. The PLC is assigned to Station 00, and the PLC program will be downloaded to that station.
Return to RSLogix 500 and select the Controller Communications tab from the Controller Properties item in the project tree.
The program is set up to download to Station 0, just as we had seen in the RSLinx configuration window.
- In RSLogix 500, select Download from the Comms menu.
The program will be downloaded to the Emulator at Node 0.
The next prompt asks if we want to go Online once we download the program to the Emulator. Press Yes. In the RSLogix 500 window, the ladder icon is spinning, and the state of the program is REMOTE PROGRAM.
