To view the RSLogix 500 configuration options, select Tools from the main menu and then select Options.
- The first tab lists System Preferences. On this tab, we can select AutoSave and the frequency to save the program. We can adjust items related to how symbols and comments are displayed, and adjust the file path to which program files are saved. We can also check the Prompt for revision note so that we can enter a description each time we save the program. The Number of Backups value indicates the number of program backup file versions that are saved in case the current program file becomes corrupted.
- On the System Communications tab, we can use the Who Active button to start RSLinx and select a CPU to download to or upload from. This tab is also used to select the communication driver to be used to communicate with the PLC.
- On the Cross Reference tab, we can choose whether to view the cross reference information for the configured program while we are online with the CPU or offline in programming mode, or both. The cross-reference indicates where in the ladder program each data table element is used.
