Description

The Industrial Networking Fundamentals course is intended to introduce participants to the various communication methods and protocols used in industry.

The course begins with an introduction to the 2 most basic serial communication methods – RS232 and RS485. Modbus, a proprietary language commonly used in industry, is discussed in detail.

Examples of how Modbus communication protocol works between Modbus devices is demonstrated. Participants will be shown the difference between a typical home wireless network using Wi-Fi and an Industrial Wireless network. A detailed discussion continues around how Industrial Wireless Communication works. The International Society of Automation (ISA) Wireless Protocol is described and explained in detail. An entire lesson in the course is dedicated to the ISA100 Wireless Compliance Institute (WCI) and how it supports Industrial Wireless users.

In addition, to complete this course on communication methods, there are detailed discussions on topics such as the OSI Model, Fieldbus, Ethernet, ControlNet, Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, IO-Link, AS-Interface, and DeviceNet.

Ideal for you if…

  • You are interested in Industrial Communications and different protocols

  • You are responsible for communications between hardware devices in a plant or field environment

I’m a maintenance technician at my company and I recently transferred to automation. We’re working more and more with Siemens so I needed to get up to speed on the newest PLC software. RealPars videos feel like a real classroom experience. The instructors are great…they’re easy to follow and they make the lessons relevant to real-world applications and I like that. I definitely recommend RealPars.

Mario Flores

I tried other online training, but I have to say that RealPars instructors helped me connect the dots in a way the others didn’t. I was able to expand my Siemens knowledge…I only knew Allen-Bradley…now I understand the differences and similarities better. I find RealPars to be a professional and affordable way to get the big picture of PLC as well as gain lots of practical knowledge.
