I have a doubt of how Stop Switch works. I've have been seeing many videos and industrial procces. I saw when it prees stop switch some components stopping and when it start again, They start working again where they stayed. but other time I saw that all components return to their initial position.
I would like to know if all of the components should be returned to the initial position or stay where it was?
Attached an image as an example
There are two types of switches: Momentary and latched. The momentary switch is only engaged while it's pressed and if you take your hand off everything goes back to the previous state but this is not the case when you use a latched/ typical "on/off" switch.
For instance when you use a momentary stop switch to turn off a motor, when you press the switch the motor turns off but when you release you hand the motors runs again. But if you use a latched switch, the motor won't start again when you release your hand.
