My company currently has bag filling equipment with its own P.L.C. The program is very basic. I want to improve on this program by actually filling the super bag by the amount from the scale. Currently the operator opens a valve and gravity feeds the bag. I want to use function block programming and fill the bag by weight. Once the scale reads the proper amount, then close the valve. I know I can use the Siemens ACT-350 to accomplish this. What I want is to use existing P.L.C. and not change out to a Siemens P.L.C. Any suggestions?
The ACT350 scale transmitter is offered by Mettler-Toledo, not Siemens. The ACT350 scale can be purchased with a number of different interfaces, including 4-20ma, ProfiBus, and Ethernet/IP, which may provide a suitable interface to your PLC. There are many more scale transmitters available on the market from many different companies. I would suggest finding a local company who can supply and support a scale interface that will work with your particular model PLC.
